(to see my first try, go here. there are lots of great patterns out there for these mushrooms, but I couldn't make them work for me, so I changed a good one to work for me)
(adapted from WolfDreamer, who is awesome. Go check out her stuff.)
Stuff you'll need:
red and white yarn
size I crochet hook
sewing needle
white and black thread
scissors
Here's what I did:
Round 1: with white yarn, ch 2, then make 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Round 2: increase 1 all the way around (you'll have 16 now)
Round 3: alternate sc and sc increase (sc in first stitch, 2 sc in 2nd stitch, etc)
Round 4: sc all the way around
Round 5: sc all the way around
Round 6: sc all the way around
*finish off white and change to red yarn*
Round 7: increase (2 sc in each stitch) all the way around *IN FRONT LOOPS ONLY
Round 8: sc all the way around
Round 9: alternate between sc in 3 stitches, then increase in the 4th stitch, all the way around
Rounds 11-14: sc all the way around.
Round 15: Now we've done the widest part, we will start decreasing now.
sc in the first 4, then decrease (follow this pattern all the way around )
Round 16: sc in the first 3, decrease over the next 2, etc
Round 17: sc all the way around
Round 18: sc in 2, decrease (keep it up all the way around )
Round 19: sc in 2, decrease
**start stuffing!!!!**
Round 20: sc 1, decrease (again, follow that pattern all the way around)
Round 21: sc1, decrease, all the way around
Round 22: same as 21!
Round 22- closing : decrease, decrease, decrease!
Just make a knot to close it, it doesn't have to be neat- it will be covered by a white dot later
*this makes the stitches stick out toward the side you put them on. So you need to decide which side you want to be the "front" of your crochet when you do this step. This is the only round you will work in the front loops only
White dots
chain 2, sc 8 in second chain from hook
increase around (now you'll have 16)
increase around (now you'll have 32)
use the white thread to sew on around the red part!
Eyes
whip stitch with black several times
Congrats! You're finished with your adorable project!
Didn't like my pattern? It's ok, it was my first try at writing one and it's probably confusing. I won't be offended if you try one of these other mushroom patterns:
MarioShroom
simple and cute shroom
flip-top shroom
retro mushroom
